Game Over Hindi Short Film Review:

Understanding the core: Video game addiction and its effects – Importance of playing.

Appreciation and critic:

I need to appreciate the team for making a film that benefits today’s generation. We all know that today’s generation kids are used to playing on mobile phones more than playing on the ground with their friends. This film is about the importance and the demerits of playing in person rather than play video games on mobile. The film starts with a sepia color. So we can assume it is a flashback story. Here comes the protagonist and the character of the protagonist is a person who plays video games on mobile 24/7. The script is trying to convey that the protagonist is addicted to playing video games the whole day. So the script wanted to say what a video game addiction will make a person. We might see in the news and there are a lot of chances for us to hear this news, that in recent times, there were a lot of children who are mentally affected due to this video game addiction. This film wanted to show us, how they are affected and what mental illness that game can make a person. The protagonist started playing the video came in mobile immediately after he woke up and then even in the bathroom he was playing, while he was walking in the road and the whole day he was only playing the video game inside a room. In the next scene where the protagonist was sleeping, he was moving his hands and in the dream, he was playing the game and doing all the actions which were used in the game in real and kind of shouting. Then his friend came by hearing that sound and woke him up. The next morning his friend called him to play on the ground and asked him whether he was coming or not. After a few seconds, he said he was coming and then they started to play football on the ground.

Technical View:

Game Over Hindi short film story is very good. Congratulations to the writer & the director of this film Manoj for making this script. There are lots of good things in the story as well as in the technical aspects. I am very satisfied with the music scoring but not completely for mixing and fitting. The teams used real ambiance sound and also sound effects to make the same even more attractive. As we can see in the first frame, there was a voice plug-in resembling the video game character’s voice. That sound is attractive at the same time slightly annoying. Similarly, in the next frame where the camera showed us a wide view of the colony, there were sounds of the ambiance at the same time the sounds of birds chirping. So from that scene itself, we can find that the team used ambient sound as well as sound effects to lift the scene. The reason why I am not completely satisfied is, in one particular frame there was a burst out music was in the background while the protagonist was waking up and in the immediate next clip, the audio was completely muted. I would be very happy if it faded out. It was visible that, because of the transition between two clips the audio was eliminated. The concept of the film and the concept of the movie match a hundred percent and the team Felisyan Studios made justice to the film through their music. Also, the frames of this film were satisfactory at the same time not so attractive. I don’t say it is bad and worse but at the same time, I don’t say that it is excellent. Frames are normal and good enough to convey the story of the film. The cinematographer Vicky made justice to the film through his cinematography. Especially the climax shot, where the protagonist kicks the ball and the camera does a pan shot on the ball. In another scene where the protagonist is playing in a corridor and the camera will zoom into his face. That frame is not that much attractive and I feel like the cinematographer needs to do a lot of experiments in angles. There was a shot from the top angle focusing on the phone while the protagonist was playing the game, that particular angle was not enough to comprehend the scenario. The angle of the phone holding and the camera was not fitted for the frame and it wasn’t visible for the audience. I am not satisfied with the frame but if you ask me overall “How was it?” I will say it was a good capture. Good cinematography.

Speaking about the artist, Shubham made justice to this film. His acting was very good. Especially when night scenery you and during the climax scene, his camera consciousness and difference consciousness were good. Appreciation for the actors. I will suggest Shubham even more work on giving expressions. Vikrant also did a good job. Congrats to the assistant director Dhanesh

The main advantage of the Game Over Hindi short film is breaking the language barrier. Though the film registered in the language Hindi the whole film has no many dialogues and only full of actions and music. The main advantage is that everyone can watch this film. The sound effects and the music conveyed the emotion of the film very well. I need to appreciate the director and the cinematographer for making a shot where the protagonist was walking in the road and there were more than three cars crossing beside him. Whenever a film team is making a scene in the public there will be a lot of consequences. That particular scene alone lifted the essence of the story. That scene is admirable. Another great advantage of the film is the duration. Making a film with less duration will trigger everyone to watch the film and a good story will also make them feel good. Congrats to the whole team for making this film.
