Overview
Closing Time is an English sci-fi, drama short film written and directed by Russell Goldman. This short film is about the five friends who meet in a reunion after 6 years, under unusual circumstances. The duration of the short film is about 17 minutes and the movie has put together various emotions related to friendship, love and moving on with the blend of a neurological experiment.
Evaluation of the Short Film “Closing Time”
The short film “Closing Time” portrays common problems in relationships while stepping into adulthood. Relationship, issues with co workers, reminiscences, disagreements among friends and handling them with a different approaches are being showcased in the short film precisely to which viewers can relate to in the modern days.
The setting of the film is in a bar where the characters’ trauma begin and end. The interesting point that I have noticed is the inclusivity in the cast of the short film. Despite having few members in the short film , people of various race and sexual orientation were seen to perform in this short film.
The acting of the actors of the short film “Closing Time” was on point. Their expressions were crystal clear to the viewers. The lighting of the short film was perfect to resemble the party energy. The darker setting in the final part did add value to the neurological aspect put forth in the short film.
The song used in the short film is similar to title of the short film itself. The song “Closing Time” by Semisonic, an American rock band is used in the movie. The song indeed is the perfect choice for the short film. The lines in the lyrics, “Closing time, every new beginning, Comes from some other beginning’s end” signifies things end at a point which I assume could be anything such as hardships, conflicts or uncertainty for that matter.
The short film “Closing Time” is impactful that the movie depicts the hardships in a friendship and relationship with others as adults with use of scientific . In the world of less emotional connection, the short film “Closing Time” brings out the happiness in trying to make things better among friends which was once shattered due to conflicts.
