Overview:

C/o Kilpakkam is a Tamil psychological thriller short film directed by Director R. Lenin. The short film is about the depicting and diagnosing a person’s delusional disorder (possibly Schizophrenia). The duration of film is around 3 minutes. Despite the length of the short film, it has delivery of plot is impactful.

Commendation And Evaluation:

One of the most notable things is the portrayal of the delusional disorder. The story didn’t fail to bring out the true essence of this disorder which I assume to be Schizophrenia, a rare brain disorder that include hallucinations, delusions, and disorganised speech and thinking. The short film has given a glimpse of the view of the world from the patient. From the title of the short film one could understand the core theme but the film did brings a plot twist in the split of second.

The other highlight is the dark setting. The setting of the film is dark that resonates to the thriller films genre. The other thing I’d like to mention is the dialogues are really limited yet serves perfect delivery of the content with minimal words. The subtitles of the films are really good that could help viewers of other language to get over the issue of language barrier.

Also, the brevity of the film makes way to open ended interpretation from the viewers.

The acting of the actors of the film were best suited for their plot. Neither expressive nor blunt. But they were on the point as per their film and its theme.

The background music used in the short film suits every scene in the film. As this movie is based on mental disorder, it made me think that this music could also be the part of the patient’s point of view. The editing of the movie is good.

The short film is really short yet impactful. In the society where mental health is not taken seriously and the people with mental disorder are looked down upon and bullied, a movie like this needs to be made to show the world that mental health is real and should be taken care of.

Ratings:
