About CELEBRATION Marathi Short Film Drama

Understanding the core: Social media’s impact on our surroundings and the importance of relationships with others.

Appreciation and Critic:

First of all, congratulations to the producers Drushya Dhwani, Naiksatam Arts for making a CELEBRATION Marathi Short Film Drama good film and producing good content which can leave an impact on a huge audience. Choosing a good script is one of the major parts of filmmaking and if the film is with a good script, half of the credit goes to the producers too. Congratulations to Pradeep Parab, Mahendra Mnadalik for managing the production as it involves great effort in this film.

About the script, it was very important and necessary content which is much needed for this generation. The storyline was clear and filming the storyline was very clear. So, the audience can easily connect themselves with the story. The character design and the screenplay were cleverly put in places and credits go to the writer and director of this film Manoj Naiksatam.

Sponsored marathi short film teaser from Shortfundly OTT:

I was attracted by the very first frame that cast and crew names are displayed by chat pop-ups. The frame starts with a playground and the idea of revealing the cast as chat pop-ups attracted me immediately and created a good feeling about the movie. Beginning a film with such a mentality will always attract the audience and a film needs to get the audience’s attention at the beginning itself. This film got my attention at the beginning itself by that chat popup edit. Continuing the film with the same mentality is what is the success of this film. The director Manoj clearly explained the character design of the protagonist in the first few seconds. So, as the audience, we can relate to the same character in our daily life and there might be chances that we have also faced the same situation. So, this film started connecting to our routine.

The protagonist has a family consisting of a wife and two children. They were playing in a park and Vivek the protagonist is alone sitting a bit far from them and using the mobile phone. His wife got angry and shouted at him. Later he started playing with his kids. It is his birthday that day. Here we can relate the title of the film with the plot. The first plot reveals when the protagonist is celebrating his birthday one day before. So, the family wants to celebrate the day with everyone. CELEBRATION Marathi Short Film Drama first storyline which the script gave. But the protagonist was using a mobile phone and he is not at all listening to his family. Though, the detailing that he was chatting with his contact that family is important, and he is not at all spending time with his family. This is a key line of this film and it has a storyline in the climax frame. Then the elder child fell, even though he did not care and Vivek’s wife started shouting at him, later he realized and started celebrating the day with them. Later, they went to a restaurant and later they went to the theatre and came home by taxi. While coming, Vivek bought a cake for himself in a cake shop. Throughout the day he was using his mobile often and his wife was staring at him. After everyone arrived inside the house the kids with joy opened the cake and asked their dad to cut it. Then they took pictures of the cake cutting and once the kid went to their bed immediately Vivek started using his phone. Meanwhile, his wife is still staring at him. Later she shouted to hurt him and Vivek convinced her that he will use it for a few minutes and that he wants to thank everyone for wishing him. The interesting part is he changed the group icon and group name as “Happy birthday Vivek” for people to know that that day was his birthday. The character of Vivek is he wants to be active in social media and wants to grab everyone’s attention. So, he changed the 2 groups’ icons and names. Both were similar after changing. Suddenly, his officemate sent him a video of a girl bathing naked. He was looking around and was eager to watch the video. He is making sure that his wife is not around him and started watching the video. Then he is sharing the video with his friend group with the name CELEBRATION. But before taping the group his wife came and he lost consciousness and was sent to his family group by mistake. Without knowing it he switched off the phone and he went. But everyone in the family group saw the video and even his wife saw that he sent the video and was very upset. So, this is the major plot of this film. Then his wife asked him, and he was convinced that he didn’t purposely send it to his family group and was crying. Even two of the family members left the group after seeing the video. Here I need to appreciate Manoj for showing the family members as it lifted the screen presence and made me dive into the script. He took more effort to show the real members of the family with different locations, different angles. It seems like he spent more time making the script look real and this effort made me get attached to the script. This is the real effort and I can see the passion in this effort. Later his uncle adds the person who left the family group and sent a video with the same name. Then he advises that it is a normal thing and we should forgive him for his mistake because everyone here is more than a family, we are friends that is what the group name also said JUST NOT FAMILY. Then the story ends, and the wife gives her presents that he bought for his husband. here he said he’s going to celebrate and, in the chat, everyone started discussing the food but here he kept the mobile aside and was with his wife. This is the key that I set in before.

In the beginning, even though the chat was not very interesting and full of only forward messages he was fully merged with the conversation and not at all listening to his family. but at the end when the conversation was interesting, he was not focusing on the conversation, but home is wife. This is the key and the foundation of the script. If you notice carefully this is what the writer tried to convey to the audience.

As the writer said, we all emerged in the technological and social media world but lost our focus on caring and pampering our family. We should spend time with our family every day without using the mobile phone. Even this suggestion or advice is what everyone says who cares about love and affection. bringing it in the film with an interesting story part and with a spicy twist and turns is interesting. Congratulations to the crew for making a film with a great social message.

Now we can speak about the technical things that film provides to the audience. When we speak about technology it is about the screen presence and the presentation of the script. I love the way it was edited. Every cut is precise, and every action was complementing the cut. Rahul Potdar was the cinematographer as well as the editor of this film. So, the main advantage of this film crew is that the idea is not split between two brains, and it was executed efficiently. Speaking about the frames, mostly every frame is good but if you ask me about its attractiveness, I don’t say it was attractive. Because the lighting is not that much-giving impact on screen. But the lighting and cinematography in the girl bathing video are good and clean. So, I don’t say the frames are attractive. But the angles are good, and the focuses are good. Maybe, the colors and backgrounds are not enough to lift the screen

The artworks of these two skilled persons are good.  Rohan Satam, Sameer Karkare have done a great job. From the beginning location to the gift wrap cover, everything is attractive. Congrats to the art directors.

The music was very good. Ameya Nare’s way of presenting the background score and music was good. The music was traveling all along with the script. In some places, the music lifted the emotions. Background and sound effects added extra effort to the music. Ameya Nare’s music has explained the emotion that the protagonist was trying to express. Especially during the girl bathing scene, and the following scenes. The grief, the joy, the disappointment was conveyed through the music.

Congratulations to the makeup artist Rushikesh Kamble. The work felt very natural. Everything felt real and was able to connect to our real experience.

About the dubbing and the sound mix. We cannot say whether it is dubbed or recorded live. The sync is fantastic. The way of mixing and the extra sounds are effective on the screen.

The acting skills of all the artists are good enough for the CELEBRATION Marathi Short Film Drama. But, I would have appreciated it a lot if the protagonist’s crying scene at the end came out well. Throughout the film, his acting was good. But in the crying scene, he is not at his best. I would suggest he practice a lot in bringing out the scene even more lively and also the dubbing for that particular scene is not complemented as well.

Finally, the climax part was the important plot. The character design of his uncle is very interesting. The small detailing in the group name “just not family” also included in the final dialogue. That detailing is what made the film look even more clear and which made the audience involve themselves in the script. The dialogue and delivery are very clean and neat.

I enjoyed the film very much and the purpose of the cinema was satisfied at the ending. CELEBRATION Marathi Short Film Drama climax was very nice that even in the hot conversation, he realized and gave importance to his wife’s emotion. So, through this story, the purpose is fulfilled and then it reaches the audience efficiently. I wish to see more scripts like this script and wish the team should continue and reach more heights.
