The independent action-thriller Jallikattu movie was written by S. Hareesh and R. Jayakumar in the Malayalam language and is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. Hareesh’s short novel “Maoist,” which serves as the basis for the film, is The plot centers on a bull that escapes from a butcher in a hilly, secluded village, leading to a large gathering of the men in the community to hunt the beast down. Sabumon Abdusamad, Santhy Balachandran, Antony Varghese, and Chemban Vinod Jose all appear in the movie.

Reasons why Jallikkattu is nominated for Oscar:
It is an honor for Malayalam film that India’s entry for the 93rd Academy Awards, Jallikattu, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, has been chosen. After his last film, “Ee. Ma. Yau,” Lijo Jose Pellissery has decided to saunter through the fundamental character of humanity in an eccentric way.
One thing you can brag about for a very long time is the movie’s technical brilliance. The violent fight between man and animal was depicted successfully by director Lijo with a deep and aesthetically evocative subtext.
However, Jallikattu has been chosen for the category of Best Foreign Feature Film. Other than that the movie was also selected for The Asian Film Award for Best Cinematography, the Asian Film Award for Best Original Music, and the Satellite Award for Best Motion Picture. The movie was a commercial success after earning 7.3 crores in Kerala during its opening week.

On September 28, 2019, Friday Film House released the film’s official trailer. 2019 saw the world premiere of Jallikattu at the Toronto International Film Festival. On October 4, 2019, it made its theatrical debut in Kerala.
