Idrissa Akuna Elba OBE is a Hollywood actor, producer, and also a musician. He is well-known for his work on Luther, The Wire, Stringer Bell, and the biographical movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Idris Elba joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2011, and since then has played the role of “Heimdall” in the movies Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).

But when Heimdall showed up in the post-credits scene of Thor: Love and Thunder to welcome Jane Foster as she entered Valhalla, most viewers were shocked. Thor: Love and Thunder is the sequel to Thor: Ragnarok: The Sequel (2017).
As the guardian of Asgard and the best friend of the protagonist Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba’s Heimdall has long been a mainstay of the Thor films. But in Avengers: Infinity War, when Thanos killed Heimdall after sending the Hulk to Earth to alert the Avengers to the coming danger, everything came to an end.

Idris Elba’s unexpected appearance came after Heimdall’s son Axl was introduced. Axl was in charge of the Asgard children after Gorr the God Butcher kidnapped them. Elba has now commented on the unsettling incident and touched on what it might indicate about his future in the MCU.
