Appreciation and Critics:

In this fast-moving world and fast-moving generation, one thing that this film taught me is to be patient until you see the next step. In this film apart from the story and the script in the technical aspects, one thing I learned is to be patient. Not everyone can simply watch this film because it needs that much more patience to watch. The film looks like an authentic short film at the beginning of the YouTube era. People used to take short video clips and some people will take videos with the story and make it as a short film and project to the audience. And that is where the short film became a major part of everyone’s life with the perseverance for a media aspirant. The reason why I said this is an authentic short film is that it seems like it was captured in mobile and with not many effects, VFX, and SFX. Also, No other dumping technical elements to give the output. It was just simple and with a good story and screenplay.

Let’s talk about the story first. The protagonist has a condition called bipolar disorder which broke him into pieces and made him stay inside four walls. He barely walks and hardly comes out to the societal environment. This condition made him worse day by day and which led him towards disturbed mental health. He was trying to get out of that, which is nice but still, he cannot come out. Sometimes he hallucinates. He hated the noise in his head and it was very loud. And sending those voices made him cut his hands by himself. He did suicide.

As we all know no this film was made by a single person Vinod alone. Even though only one person who worked on this difference doesn’t look like an amateur filmmaker. The one thing I love the most in this film is the screenplay and structure of the script that went. The detailing is another aspect that we should look into in that script. From the first frame itself, you can predict that this film is shot by mobile, and not that much cinematic effect will be there. But I didn’t expect that the film could travel with a good screenplay structure and the frames to make one stop and think about this film. I love the frameset that Vinod placed. From the beginning, the lighting and the frame are also impressive. Lighting is the natural support that has been implemented in this film.

Moreover, the actor Vinod has made his film better by his acting. Apart from a few areas, his acting skill and the way he expressed was good enough to patch up with the script. The few areas that I mentioned may include consciousness on camera and also makeup consciousness. We can exclude that because it was made by a single person. The effort that Vinod put into this film is impressive. He showed us three stages of the face in this film – without a beard, with less beard, and also with more beard. The time he waited to take the shot is what he taught us in this film.

Though this film had many positive things. I would rather see the script or the story be even more creative or unique. The bipolar disorder became familiar among people and for a short film with the minimum spectrum, the story could have been unique and creative. Whatever the work he has done in this film is good enough to prove his filmmaking skill. But to cover the audience or to make them fall in love with the film, the story isn’t enough. As mentioned in the first line of this critique, the world is moving fast and everyone is getting knowledge from everywhere and each day they have learned something new with the help of social media.

If the audience wants to spend 20 minutes watching a film they need something new from that film.

In the middle of the film, there comes a scene where the protagonist stares at the window/outside for a long time. During that shot, I think what Vinod tried to do is to make us think on various thoughts while the protagonist is thinking on his own. The background crow sound and a few more details are very much noticing elements. As I said, there are not many dumping effects. This is in the music and sound effects too. Everything had natural sound effects. Also, one thing that I should suggest to the filmmaker is to make sure the audio is good enough for the people to hear. The audio was Mono. While using YouTube, the audio in the Stereo would be great and additional support for the audience. If we want to speak about dubbing, it could have been better. But as it was not handled by a dubbing engineer, we cannot expect much from it.

The dialogues are good enough and support the script in a great manner.

Even though the film could have been better, it doesn’t mean that it was not worth watching. This film taught something about how a single person can make a film with impressive elements. Also how the script and screenplay could be impressive as well.

“If you are not open to constructive criticism, then you are truly open to grow as a person”.
