About What’s Your Status Web Series

What’s Your Status is a Web series starring Manjot Singh, Naveen Polishetty, and Abhay Mahajan in leading roles. This web series tells the story of three different people in three different stages of their life. One of them is single and his name is Ballu, He is currently pursuing his MBA degree in Manipal. The second guy is committed, and his name is TJ, He is working on a 9 to 5 job in an office in Hyderabad. The last one named Bharath is married, and he is also working on a 9 to 5 job in an office at Gurgaon. The series opens with the narrative voice of the main characters in the story. Each of them explains their past and comparing it with their present life in a humorous way which was good. Their stories were realistic and were believable and there were no parts where we feel “This would happen in movies only”. Roles were given perfectly to the actors of this web series. Also, the director gave roles equally to all the three major characters. The cast Manjot Singh, Kumar Varun, Naveen Polishetty, Gurpreet Saini, Abhay Mahajan, Plabita Borthakur, Anisha Victor, and Megha Burman did their part very naturally. Every single actor including the driver did their part in cent perfection.

This What’s Your Status Web Series starts on a regular Sunday each encountering an unexpected event in their day. Ballu is kind of jealous of his committed friend Saif and he also wanted to get committed. He says he has not met a girl of his kind. He then finally meets a girl while sitting on the stairs. His friends said her name is Nisha. The visuals of Manipal were the best part of episode one where they show the beauty of Manipal and nearby places which makes us feel we must go at least once in a lifetime. TJ goes to a clothing shop to purchase a dress for his girlfriend as it is their anniversary and his visit is a surprise and he was in dilemma with the size and he asks a random girl which would be perfect. Next, he goes to the airport to catch the Mumbai flight. There he sees that girl who met at the cloth store. They both introduce themselves. Her name is Sandhya. The third guy is the married one. He and his wife Shwetha fight often just for silly things as well. Congratulations to the producer for choosing this wonderful script and congratulations to the director as well for producing such a beautiful script.

What’s Your Status Web Series Episode one is just an introduction to characters and their lifestyle. So, for now, EPISODE ONE – CHEERS!!! Ends with a pleasant intro of all the characters. The first episode was great as mentioned earlier but the second episode was not that good as we expected. As one of the main protagonists, Ballu was not given enough space. He and his friends were just sitting at the bar and trying to find out who’s Nisha (the girl Ballu spots while he’s sitting on the stairs) using social media, but they could not find her. His friend also adds that if her CAT percentile is good enough, she will definitely join here as this is a premier B school. So this gang ( Ballu, Saif, and Friend 2) are waiting for the admissions now. Naveen Polishetty has done a great job in this episode. He plays a major role in this episode. He was eagerly waiting to surprise her Girlfriend who’s now in Bombay.

He had booked flight tickets from Hyderabad to Mumbai just to visit her for a day because he has a review meeting the next day in his office. He had to visit her that day because it was their love anniversary. Anisha Victor named Sandhya who has played as a stranger did it quite well. Both TJ and Sandhya meet at various places in a single day like the airport, Clothing Outlet again at the airport, etc… Sandhya is shown as an introvert because she is not interested in talking to a stranger as she has experienced a horrible situation with a stranger already and does not want to face a situation which she has already felt. Now TJ is on the way to his girlfriend’s house. He calls a taxi and at the time of traveling he practices how to surprise her in various ways. He has taken the lift now and he has reached his girlfriend’s house.

There a surprise is waiting for him. He sees a drunk man sleeping in front of the door. TJ wasn’t too sure who he is. Then he presses the calling bell. His girlfriend named Harmony comes out. She also admits that she and the drunk man both have slept together last night. Harmony says “I did not know you were coming” which was a stupid reply which could have been made better. Here in my opinion this scene was pretty guessable because he is too excited, and we would eventually know something is going to happen in Mumbai. In this particular scene, Naveen’s (TJ’s) acting was fantabulous. With all the sadness he goes to the bar situated at the airport. There he meets Sandhya again. She was doubtful whether TJ is following Sandhya. Then they both start to have a beer as their flight is delayed by forty–five minutes. Sandhya asks about the meeting of TJ and his girlfriend. He says everything went well but she has moved on with some other guy.

The dialogue writer has scripted a beautiful dialogue for this beautiful emotional scene. Here the convo between TJ and Sandhya was good and it felt like they were a cute couple and why can not they just pair up. TJ now forces Sandhya to take the dress which he bought for his girlfriend (currently ex-girlfriend) as his roommates will tease him for buying a lady dress. Sandhya refuses for two main reasons. One, TJ bought this dress for his girlfriend and she cannot just replace her. Second, she is not willing to take a product from a stranger just for free. For this TJ asks Sandhya to pay his bar bill. At the end of TJ and Sandhya’s convo both return to their house. Now simultaneously at Gurgaon Barath and his wife Shweta are living in their house on a normal Sunday. There are no raw items in their fridge to cook food for having breakfast. Beer is also out of stock now. So Barath decides to go to the supermarket to buy some vegetables and also buys beer.

There was a cricket match that night and he had asked his friends to join him in his house. When he was out of the supermarket he got a call from his dad and his dad said it is their 4th year wedding anniversary and he had forgotten it. He comes back home looking for his wife whether she’s angry. But her wife said she has gone out and has not cooked the lunch and asks him to order online. Now Barath was worried that he has created an image of boring, lazy, and introvert in front of her wife. So Barath decides to make her wife say “I LOVE YOU” again. Shwetha was the cutest girl in their college and he successfully made her say “I LOVE YOU”.

He decorates the home, orders cake and now it’s evening her wife has come. She was not surprised as she knew that he would definitely do this. She stated “ Are you compensating for what you have forgotten” She also adds he is a Great marketing analyst and he used his skills to pacify her. Barath now speaks paragraphs of dialogues stating he had made memories with her showing every single item in his house. That scene was pretty romantic. Finally, she comes to a relaxed state and she was about to say “I LOVE YOU”. Now Barath’s Friends come into the picture and spoils the whole scene and now again Shwetha is angry with Barath. Here it is pretty obvious and all would have expected the same.

Here there is a real twist that the audience would not have really expected. The dress bag which TJ gave to Sandhya actually had a small chit inside which stated “Did not want to be the next co-passenger who asked you for your mobile number after a Customary HI HELLO 🙂 “ We did not expect TJ was interested in Sandhya. Here this scene ends with suspense and keeps us excited to watch another episode of What’s your status.
