Greta Gerwig’s comedy “Barbie,” which has a pink-tinted theme, can now be streamed on-demand. Originally, it was set to be released digitally on September 5, but Warner Bros. postponed it due to its continued success at the global box office. Now, you can rent the movie on Amazon Prime Video, and it’s also available for purchase on platforms like Apple TV, BookMyShow Stream, Google Play Movies, and YouTube Movies. Additionally, “Meg 2: The Trench,” starring Jason Statham, will finally arrive on Indian digital platforms via Prime Video on September 18, but it will only be available for rent at a cost of Rs. 499.

Where to watch Barbie at home?

As of September 12th, the movie “Barbie” is available for digital streaming, alongside its ongoing theatrical run in select Indian cities. All these digital platforms offer the option to watch the movie in 4K Ultra-HD with subtitles. However, only the Apple TV version, priced at Rs. 790, includes Dolby Atmos audio. Interestingly, the package also includes a standard definition (SD) print, which seems unnecessary as most customers would prefer higher quality. You can also rent “Barbie” on Apple TV for Rs. 490. Alternatively, renting on Google Play Movies or YouTube Movies is slightly more expensive at Rs. 500. If you wish to own the movie, you can purchase it for Rs. 920, adding it to your library for unlimited viewing. It’s important to note that English is the only available dubbing language on all platforms, just like the theatrical release in India.

Furthermore, “Barbie” can be streamed on BookMyShow Stream for Rs. 799, and you have the option to rent it for Rs. 499. Keep in mind that once you start playback, you’ll have two days to finish watching it, but it will remain on your account for 30 days. Amazon Prime Video follows the same rental rules but offers SD, HD (1080p), and 4K versions separately for Rs. 499.

Driven in part by the internet-fueled ‘Barbenheimer’ phenomenon, “Barbie” has thrived in theaters, becoming the highest-grossing movie of the year, with earnings of $1.4 billion (approximately Rs. 11,608 crore), surpassing “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” The film follows the story of the stereotypical Barbie doll, played by Margot Robbie, who lives a perfect life in the pink-hued Barbie Land until she becomes self-aware and faces an existential crisis. In an attempt to reverse these thoughts, she embarks on a journey to the real world with Ken, played by Ryan Gosling, and discovers the challenges of patriarchy and how young girls perceive themselves once they outgrow their doll phase. “Barbie” also made history by propelling director Gerwig into the billion-dollar club, making her the first woman director to achieve this milestone.

When can you watch Meg 2: The Trench at home?

Meg 2: The Trench was released globally in digital format on August 25, but it wasn’t accessible on Indian platforms at that time. However, it will soon be available for rental on Amazon Prime Video in India starting from September 18, priced at Rs. 499. This is the same rental price as the movie Barbie, but Meg 2 offers more language options, including English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

In this film, Jonas Taylor (played by Jason Statham), a rescue diver, returns to confront a group of megalodon sharks that have escaped and are heading towards the shore. As a result, his team must abandon their original deep-sea mining mission and focus on protecting civilians from these enormous sharks as they begin to attack boardwalks.

Barbie is now accessible for video-on-demand (VOD) streaming on various platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, BookMyShow Stream, Google Play Movies, and YouTube Movies. It is also still being shown in specific theaters across the country. Meanwhile, Meg 2: The Trench can be rented on Prime Video starting September 18.
