Modern Family achieved immense success, captivating audiences throughout the 2000s with its 11-season run and 250 episodes from 2009 to 2020. Garnering 22 Emmy Awards, including multiple wins for Outstanding Comedy Series, the show showcased three distinct family dynamics – nuclear, same-sex, and blended – all interconnected through Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill), his daughter Claire (Julie Bowen), and son Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson).

Updated as of December 13, 2023, this article now provides insights into the post-Modern Family endeavors of the cast members.

While the show’s popularity was evident, Modern Family left a lasting impact on television for its commitment to diversity and representation of various sexual orientations. Although the series was universally enjoyed, it gained acclaim for its portrayal of gay couples, a culturally diverse cast, and its depiction of immigrants and non-native Americans. Notably, the show featured a gay male couple six years before the legalization of same-sex marriage in the US. Recognizing the show’s influence on viewers, it’s intriguing to explore the current pursuits of the Modern Family cast and their achievements since the series concluded.

Since the series concluded in 2020, Stonestreet has made guest appearances on TV shows like Madagascar: A Little Wild and American Auto. He also hosted the Fox reality competition, Domino Masters. Moreover, he portrayed Mad Santa in the second season of The Santa Clauses, released in November 2023.

Nolan Gould as Luke Dunphy

Nolan Gould, known for his role as Luke Dunphy on Modern Family, is not just an actor portraying a character. Contrary to his on-screen persona, Gould is a genius with an impressive IQ of 150 and an active membership in Mensa. Despite his portrayal of a lovable but often clueless character, Gould has showcased his intelligence through various TV appearances, including shows like Hell’s Kitchen, Celebrity Dating Game, and an episode of Whose Line is it Anyway?

Beyond his comedic roles, Gould has expanded his acting career with guest appearances in Good Luck Charlie and Sofia the First. He has also taken on film roles in productions such as Friends with Benefits and The To Do List. After Modern Family, his acting engagements were limited until he appeared in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy as Chase Sams. However, since Modern Family concluded, Ewing has taken a step back from mainstream projects. His absence from the film and TV scene can be attributed to his battles with mental health issues, particularly body dysmorphic disorder. Although he hasn’t been involved in major productions post-Modern Family, Ewing has made appearances in short films like Always Come in Second (2021) and Nest (2022), indicating a return to the screen in a more subdued manner.
