About the Contest:
“Tamil Nadu Startup Festival” is a juncture where talents of various regions skillful in filmmakers blend the art of storytelling with mind-blowing visual portrayal. The contest is aimed at encouraging the young minds of the nation on entrepreneurship and motivate the people on the startups with right ideas through short films.
Renowned actor and comedian, Actor Soori and the prominent movie director, Director Vignesh Shivan are welcomed as the Chief Guests of the Shortfilm competition.
We are also proud to announce that Director Obeil N. Krishna, famous Tamil film director and screenwriter famous for his epic movies like “Sillunu Oru Kaadhal”, “Nedunchalai” and “Pathu Thala” has been invited as the jury member of the contest.
Venue: Codissia, Coimbatore.
How to participate:
Eligibility: The contest is open to all aspiring filmmakers, enthusiasts with no age restriction. Both the entry of participants as an individual or as a team is encouraged.
Categories: Short films
Theme: Any story related to startups and entrepreneurship.
Languages: Any language of the participants’ choice. All the non-English language entries must be subtitled in English (Exception to music video).
Maximum Duration of the Video: 10 minutes
Submission Deadline: August 15, 2023
Official Selection: The selection process is carried out by experts and veterans of the film industry. Their decisions are final and binding.
Awards and Prizes:
Cash prizes of ₹ 1,50,000/- is to be given to the talented artists. Top 3 short films will get cash prize and screening.
1st Prize : ₹ 75,000/-
2nd Prize: ₹ 50,000/-
3rd Prize : ₹ 25,000/-
Terms and Rules:
- Short Films exceeding the duration of 10 minutes will be disqualified (10 Min is the Limit).
- All fees are non-refundable.
- Student filmmakers are encouraged to apply but must enter their film school they’re currently pursuing (or) from which film school they got persuaded. Also, Student/Diploma films cannot be considered as Director’s First film.
- SSF is not responsible for corrupted or non-functioning films.
- Adding subtitles to your short films adds additional values to your submission.
- Amateur videos and videos with extremist ideologies, propaganda contents involving religious/political views and pornography are scrapped off.
- We don’t accept scripts.
- The Best Story category is based on the story of the film.
- StartupTN Shortfilm festival is a competitive event and all films selected in any category will be notified via email.
- If not notified or shown selected, your film would not be eligible to participate.
- All genres are considered eligible for nomination into one or more competitive categories.
- We place no restrictions on your work in terms of premiere status or whether your work has been made available online.
- By submitting your film, take note that SSF is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt (trailer/teaser/poster/stills) from any film submitted for promotional purposes.
- By submitting a movie to SSF, filmmaker/producer takes the whole responsibility of copyright issues of music, script, and other creative and technical aspects of the film.
- We retain the right to change the date, fee of the film festival under any unforeseen circumstances.
- All filmmakers will be informed about any changes through our online platforms.
- Porn/Trash Works are strictly condemned.
- The festival director, committee / producer / judges has the right to accept or refuse any films without assigning any reason whatsoever.
