Dwayne Johnson, though he may have relinquished his position as the box office king in recent times, continues to maintain a strong presence on Netflix’s Top 10 list, thanks to a somewhat overlooked action thriller from 2013, “Snitch.” This film didn’t receive much acclaim when it originally premiered in theaters a decade ago.
Forgotten Dwayne Johnson Action Thriller Becomes an Unexpected success on Netflix
Despite facing criticism for certain projects, Dwayne Johnson has solidified his status as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, particularly in the realm of blockbuster films. However, over the past few years, many of Dwayne Johnson’s movies haven’t met box office expectations, and some have even underperformed, largely due to their substantial budgets, a significant portion of which is allocated to the actor’s compensation. Nonetheless, when it comes to his earlier films becoming available on streaming platforms, the story takes a different turn.
“Red Notice,” in which Dwayne Johnson co-stars alongside two other major platform stars, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, currently holds the top spot as the most-watched original movie on Netflix. Surprisingly, a relatively obscure 2013 film featuring the ever-busy actor has made its way into the Global Top 10 list for English-language movies during the week of August 28 to September 3.
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, “Snitch” tells the story of a father who works for a construction company and is confronted with a devastating reality when his son is sentenced to 30 years in prison for involvement in a drug trafficking case. In a desperate bid to save his son, the man strikes a deal with a lawyer and volunteers to infiltrate a powerful and dangerous drug network to assist the DEA. His mission involves transporting illicit goods to uncover the whereabouts of Malik, the leader of the criminal organization.
Additionally, the movie featured an ensemble cast that included Susan Sarandon, Jon Bernthal, Barry Pepper, Michael Kenneth Williams, Rafi Gavron, David Harbour, and various other talented actors.
