Frances O’Connor is making her directing debut with the upcoming biographical drama film Emily, which she also wrote the script for. Emma Mackey plays Emily Bront, an English author, in this portrayal of her brief life. Emily is slated to have her world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022. Warner Bros. Pictures will then distribute Emily in theaters on October 14, 2022 in the United Kingdom, while Bleecker Street will release it in 2023 in the United States.

The short life of English author Emily Bronte is portrayed in the film, before she began writing Wuthering Heights. Emily imagines the transformational, exciting, and uplifting journey to womanhood of a rebel and a misfit. As one of the most well-known, mysterious, and provocative writers in history who passed away far too soon at the age of 30.
