Controversial director Woody Allen made a comeback at the Venice International Film Festival after a gap of sixteen years since his last appearance in 2007, which was marked by various controversies. However, this year, his new film, “Coup de Chance,” received positive feedback from the festival attendees. The writer and director’s latest cinematic project garnered a standing ovation that lasted for five minutes. Have a look at this video found in Twitter.

Woody Allen’s most significant financial success at the box office was “Midnight in Paris” (2011), which earned a global revenue of $152 million. While Allen has filmed numerous movies in foreign locations, he remains receptive to the idea of making another film in Manhattan.

Woody Allen’s most recent romantic comedy filmed in New York was “A Rainy Day in New York” (2019), which achieved international success with earnings of $24 million. However, allegations of sexual abuse made by his daughter, Dylan Farrow (which Allen has consistently refuted), resulted in Amazon severing its business relationship with the renowned filmmaker, once considered a key figure in Manhattan’s film industry.

The official summary of “Coup de Chance” revolves around the significant influence of chance and luck in our existence. Fanny (played by Lou de Laâge) and Jean (portrayed by Melvil Poupaud) present themselves as the perfect married pair. They both have successful careers, reside in a beautiful apartment in an upscale district of Paris, and their love appears as strong as it was when they initially crossed paths.

Woody Allen is undoubtedly skilled at crafting roles that provide actresses with substantial material to work with. Many of the characters he has written have earned Oscars for a range of talented performers. Diane Keaton, for instance, won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as the title character in “Annie Hall,” while Cate Blanchett achieved the same accolade for her performance in “Blue Jasmine.” Dianne Wiest also secured two Oscars for Best Supporting Actress for her collaborations with Allen in “Hannah and Her Sisters” and “Bullets Over Broadway.”

In addition, Penélope Cruz (for “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”) and Mira Sorvino (for “Mighty Aphrodite”) both received Oscars in the supporting actress category. Regardless of personal opinions about him, Woody Allen remains a filmmaker dedicated to his craft. “Coup de Chance” is set to begin its theatrical release in France on September 27.
