The controversial Golden Globe Awards will return to NBC (National Broadcasting Company) in 2023 after a year away from the television channel. The show will return to its home network next year, multiple sources told The Hollywood Reporter (THR).
A source told Deadline around two hours after that report that, in contradiction to THR’s statement, a comeback for the party gathering of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is “not a done deal.” According to the publication, the organisation may have been trying a different approach when it released a two-page statement to partners and media people.

In order to address institutional and structural issues, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has restructured the organisation, according to the statement. NBC and the HFPA officials have been contacted by Vanity Fair for comment.
After many Los Angeles newspapers revealed the HFPA’s diversity issues, racism charges, and ethics complaints, NBC decided not to telecast this year’s Golden Globe Awards. Hollywood boycotted the organisation under the leadership of celebrities like Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise (who returned his three Globes).

Sunshine Sachs, the HFPA’s long-time public relations agency, left the group. Because of all of this, NBC, which has hosted the Golden Globe Awards since 1996, decided not to air the ceremony in January. The network said it would be willing to talk about airing the ceremony again in 2023 after “substantial reform” had taken place.
Since then, the HFPA has been eager to highlight improvements, such as an updated code of conduct, the hiring of a chief diversity officer, inviting diverse members to the board of directors, advisory board, and credentials committee, welcoming 21 new members (including six black journalists), with plans to welcome more in the coming years, and a five-year partnership with the NAACP.
