Greetings participants and beholders of the “Shortfundly Annual Film Festival”, here we are with another spectacular update about the upcoming Shortfundly Annual Film Festival Award [August 2021 to June 2022] scheduled for 12th August 2023 starting from 4 PM. We’d like to give a reminder on the specifics of the event.

A Dead Sea
Kamel, a Palestinian with autism, in his 50s, takes his paralyzed sister to the Dead Sea for her treatment. A misunderstanding at the beach involving a stolen ball spirals into a tragic incident due to language barriers and cultural tensions. This is short film is inspired by a real-life event in Jerusalem.
Director Description: Nahd Bashir is the Chairman of the Arab Culutre Committee. With profound knowledge in film studies and marketing, he has also been a law student at The Academic Centre for Law and Business.
A Box of Cuban Cigars
The story explores the challenges of aging through the relationship of Ramesh and Satish, close friends grappling with loneliness. Their sons’ migrations and personal struggles bring out emotional conflicts, with unexpected events arising, including a pandemic and a tragic accident.
Director Description: Soumandeep Sen is an independent filmmaker, who turned his interests into filmmaking while promoting new talents in music and film. He has directed 7 short films, some were recognized internationally.
My Death Certificate
The story centers on an elderly Sri Lankan immigrant in Tamil Nadu, India, who discovers she has been declared deceased by officials, despite being alive. The narrative delves into her struggle against this injustice and questions whether she truly remains among the living.
Director Description: Rajith Menon is an Indian actor and director. He has been active in the film industry since 2007. It is also notable that he received “Best Newcomer Award” and “Best New Talent Award” at Asianet Awards and Chennai Film Awards respectively.
Sithai
For 3,000 years, vaginal degeneration has occurred mainly in countries like Africa, Somalia, and India. The ritual, known as “kafta,” involves cutting the clitoris and is still performed on women aged 15 to 49. Our mission is to fight this cruelty and raise awareness.
Director Description: The director of this short film is Karthi Ram. He has directed two short films one being “Sithai” and the other named “Bharathy”.
Tricksters
Under scorching sun, 13-year-old Chinna joins his Shaman father, aiding him in village-to-village black magic rituals. Strained by encounters and differences, their relationship unravels. Will Chinna break free or succumb to his feared fate?
Director Description: Ashwin Mohan is an Indian Writer-Director with proficiency in Producing, Editing, and Sound. After crafting shorts with peers and working on projects in Bangalore, he attained his Masters in Fine Arts from London Film School and is presently engaged in a feature film and series.
Soolagitti
Based on the true story of midwife Soolagitti Narasamma, recipient of the ‘Padma Shri’ award. She selflessly conducted over 20,000 traditional deliveries without charge, serving underprivileged areas in Karnataka with no medical resources for 70 years.
Director Description: Pruthvi Sagar is an actor, writer and independent filmmaker. He has also been as an Associate Director for the films “RE” and “Matte Udbhava”.
Naradhama
Two close friends, both victims of their circumstances, venture into a forest on their journey back home. A sudden incident disrupts their plans, triggering an unexpected sequence of events that culminates in a surprising and unforeseen conclusion.
