Since the midway point of Phase Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), fans have been expressing frustration over the limited connections between the movies and television series. This concern began with the release of “Wanda Vision” in 2021, where fans questioned why prominent magic users like Doctor Strange, Wong, or The Ancient One weren’t alerted to the strange events happening in Westview, considering their expertise in magic.

As time went on, “Multiverse of Madness” also disappointed some fans by not fully exploring the various universes and the potential it held. While viewers did get to see different versions of Doctor Strange, such as the Zombie and Defender variants, they were hoping to see more familiar faces from other well-known heroes in the multiverse.

The appearances of certain characters and their swift exits were disappointing. Moving to the present, the recently launched “Secret Invasion” seemed to follow a similar pattern, leaving fans wishing for an unexpected arrival of Captain Marvel during the climactic battle against the Super Skrull. However, instead of Captain Marvel, two new characters with similar abilities were featured in a confrontation.

But there’s reason to remain optimistic, as recent set photos have been revealed for the upcoming film “Captain America: Brave New World.” These photos, shared on Instagram by a user named @atlanta_filming, contain intriguing hints at a potential villainous element that could bring excitement to the story. In the pictures, a Roxxon Corporation logo is prominently featured alongside images showing surveillance cameras and airline travel services.

While the other clues might not stand out, it’s important to note that Roxxon has a significant presence in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Marvel Comics. This unscrupulous oil conglomerate has made appearances in every Iron Man film, as well as in the Loki and She-Hulk Attorney at Law series. Beyond the MCU, Roxxon has been mentioned in shows like Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Runaways, among others. In the world of comics, Roxxon has been a formidable adversary for characters like Spider-Man, Thor, and even Captain America, making their debut in his comic series in the mid-1970s.

Numerous theories suggest that Marvel’s introduction of several teenage heroes, including Wanda’s children, Ironheart, and Hulk’s son Skaar, could pave the way for a significant storyline involving the formation of a young Avengers team known as The Champions. Interestingly, this aligns with one of Roxxon’s most sinister endeavors.

In a scenario where Roxxon attempts to eliminate a high school girl speaking out against corruption at her school, it’s the Champions—consisting of Kamala Khan, Viv Vision, Ironheart, and others—who ultimately prevail, though not without significant consequences. Ms. Marvel ends up in a coma after saving the targeted speaker from falling debris, and the school is left in ruins. While Roxxon is technically a villainous entity, its antagonistic role might be the catalyst needed to bring these young heroes together and potentially mend the MCU.

While a rapid introduction of a super-team may not be in the plans, Roxxon has alternative schemes to unite characters. In a storyline dating back to 1975, Captain America (as Nomad) and Namor teamed up to thwart Roxxon’s plot involving a mind-controlling crown. Though they prevented a lost continent from rising, Roxxon’s influence endured, potentially aligning with the themes of global change in the upcoming Captain America movie, titled “Brave New World.”

In a 1991 issue of Amazing Spider-Man, Roxxon’s creation of a synthetic vibranium known as Nuform attracts the attention of both heroes and villains. Notably, Kingpin and Ultron become interested in this power-enhancing substance. While Kingpin has recently seen a resurgence on Disney+, fans have longed for Ultron’s return to the big screen. Roxxon’s role in supplying a substitute for vibranium could potentially play a pivotal role in revitalizing the MCU. We hope to see these ideas come to life in “Captain America: Brave New World,” set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
