Amazon Prime Video has confirmed its plan to incorporate advertising during shows and movies, commencing early next year. The initial introduction of ads in Prime Video content will be in countries like the US, UK, Germany, and Canada in early 2024. France, Italy, Spain, and Mexico will follow later in the year. Amazon is also offering an ad-free option, allowing US Prime members to pay $2.99 per month for an ad-free experience. This move by Amazon Prime Video aligns with similar strategies already implemented by competitors like Netflix and Walt Disney. The aim is to invest in compelling content and sustain this investment for an extended period.
Amazon plans to introduce ads into its programs for Prime members in the United States. Before implementing this change, Amazon will send out emails to Prime members a few weeks in advance, providing information on how to opt for an ad-free option if they prefer. Amazon’s goal is to have significantly fewer ads compared to traditional linear TV and other streaming TV providers.
It’s important to note that Amazon is not pioneering this concept, as competitors like Netflix and Disney+ have already introduced similar ad-supported services in the streaming market.

In the United States, an Amazon Prime Video subscription is priced at approximately $8.99 per month. In India, Amazon offers various pricing options, including an annual Prime membership for Rs. 1,499, a three-month membership for Rs. 599, and a monthly membership for Rs. 299.
