It is also associated with the TIFF Bell Lightbox cultural center, situated in Downtown Toronto, serving as a permanent hub for film-related activities.

One notable aspect of the festival is the People’s Choice Award, determined by audience votes, which often serves as a predictor of success during the awards season, particularly at the Academy Awards. Past winners of this award include acclaimed films like Life Is Beautiful, American Beauty, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Slumdog Millionaire, The King’s Speech, 12 Years a Slave, La La Land, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Green Book, Jojo Rabbit, and Nomadland.
TIFF typically spans eleven days, beginning on the Thursday following Labour Day in Canada, and it provides a platform for diverse cinematic experiences. The 2022 Toronto International Film Festival took place from September 8 to 18, 2022, with Cameron Bailey serving as its executive director at that time.
