AR Rahman’s live performance at ‘Marakuma Nenjam,’ held at Adityaram Palace in Chennai on September 10, turned chaotic as individuals with valid tickets were denied entry due to overcrowding. Disturbing incidents, including the molestation of women and the displacement of children and elderly attendees, marred the event.

In his social media post, Yuvan Shankar Raja conveyed the complexity of organizing a large-scale concert, which entails numerous intricate aspects like logistics, crowd management, and traffic control. He acknowledged the unfortunate reality that mishaps, such as overcrowding and unexpected issues, can occur during such massive concerts, often due to organizational errors. He emphasized that even with the best intentions, situations can spiral out of control, ultimately causing significant distress to the fans who play a crucial role in making our music meaningful.

Addressing the event organizers, Yuvan Shankar Raja emphasized the importance of introspection in light of this incident. He stressed that as performers, artists trust these producers to ensure the seamless operation of events and the well-being of their fans while they perform. Witnessing such unfortunate situations unfold is truly disheartening, to the extent that it compels artists, including himself, to become actively involved in the planning process and safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Yuvan Shankar Raja expressed his solidarity with AR Rahman, highlighting his empathy as a fellow musician in response to the regrettable events that transpired. He stressed that the concert had the noble intention of providing fans with a memorable and positive experience. Yuvan concluded his message by expressing hope that the event organizers would take this incident as an opportunity to learn valuable lessons and make necessary improvements, particularly in terms of ensuring the safety of women, children, and the elderly.

In the aftermath of the unfortunate incident, AR Rahman turned to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to respond to the situation. He announced his intention to provide compensation to individuals who were unable to gain access to the event venue, even though they possessed valid tickets.
