Baatein – Mental Health Hindi [Short Film – review & rating – 3.0/5]

The short film starts with the character Jeet Khurana who is a young documentary filmmaker when he visits, Mrs. Deshpande, a widowed science professor.

On his arrival, he is introduced to her niece, Tulika. The story will bound you as it goes on. The three of them – Jeet, Mrs. Deshpande, and Tulika share a friendship.

The story is about the pain that Mrs. Deshpande has, as she is struggling to cope with life, as she griefs over the loss of her young son, Milind.

Baatein is set in Palghar and has beautifully shot and conceptualized. It is a well-executed short film that makes us all emotional at some point in time. The story is worth watching. One should watch it to know as a few unexpected and uncomfortable conversations take place when the three start bonding, that happens to change their outlook towards life, forever.

Talking about the performance, Supriya Pilgaonkar as always is magical in the film, she, as a mother will totally win hearts, and seeing her emotional on-screen, might make you too. The other two actors Shivani Raghuvanshi and Sankalp Joshi have beautifully played their part in the short film. They were the perfect choice for the role.

Director Adeeb Rais has made sure that every scene in the film maintains it’s stability. The short film end with a great message that – there are many children who can’t cope up with things in their lives and make decisions that ends everything. Maybe talking and sharing thoughts with one person might bring out a change.

As Supriya ji rightly states at the end,”Bachon ko kab extra tuition Chahiye ye Hume pta hota h par lab unhe serious counselling Chahiye ye nai jante“, we all could have related to it somewhere.
